My father overcame paralysis after he was hit by a car, and my mother nursed my father back to health after he was released from the ICU (bacterial meningitis) 4 years ago. They make it difficult to come up with excuses. |

| What do you love about competition? |
I love that competition is all about striving for perfection on a particular day no matter the circumstances. As human beings we are not perfect creatures, yet we try anyway.

a long hot bath filled with lavender epson salt.

| Advice for the youth athletes in karate? |
Be diligent about your kihon (basics). It's the foundation for everything if you wish to prolong your karate career. Build good habits now.

My parents, dojo, and organization (Japan Karate-Do Ryobu-Kai). Everyone is so supportive and I want to make them proud.
