USA KARATE TEAM TRAVELING TO MEXICO TO COMPETE IN THE NORTH AMERICAN CUP

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, FEBRUARY 19, 2010:  USA Karate announced the roster of the USA Karate Team that will compete in the North American Cup in Ixtapa Zihfuatagejo, Mexico.   The competition will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 between the teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico.  This friendship tournament brings together these national teams in a spirit of cooperation to develop skills through competition.

This year’s USA team will be headed by the USA Karate President of the Board of Directors, John D. Pasquale.  The team leader will be Coach Terrance Tokey Hill.  In the ladies kumite (sparring) kilo divisions, the athletes will be -50kg. Jem Corcoran, -55kg. Ashley Hill, Sereen Askari, -61kg. Elisa Au Fonseca, Eimi Kurita, -68kg. Cheryl Murphy, Eimi Kurita and +68kg. Jenna Weber.  The men’s kumite kilo divisions will consist of -60kg. Adam Brozer, -67kg. Brian Mertel and Daniel Luna, -75kg. Tom Scott and +84kg. Taleb Bekkali.  The women’s kata (forms) division will be represented by Eimi Kurita and the men’s will be William Bradford and William Gatch.  The Referee delegation will consist of Officials Julius Parniczky and Jay Farrell.

Last year the USA team placed second in the North American Cup competition.  This year they have been on a roll with several large victories and are ready to bring home the gold from Mexico.  Good luck to our team!
