Teams of volunteers set up the venue in preparation for Friday’s competition. As competitors took to the tatami at 8 AM things were off to a good start. Both staff and volunteers hurriedly made last minute adjustments as kata competitors prepared to earn their spot on the National team or to become a national champion in their division.
USA-NKF Professional Foundation Fund raiser - Great Success!
The first ever USA-NKF Foundation Gala held in the Hyatt Regency was attended by loyal supporters of the USA-NKF who donated $35,000 plus to the future of the sport. A spirited verbal auction of donated items between different tables pushed the limits of the gala. What a great start for our future.
Thursday USA-NKF Nationals
Thursday had many up early for the breakfast club where at least 50 dojo owners and sensei were in attendance for a free breakfast to speak about trends in the industry. Hosted by the USA-NKF this free breakfast for registered schools was an idea from sensei John DiPasquale. Much of the meeting consisted of updates and a state of the art for karate.
