High in the rugged mountains and wide-open plains of North America, a young American gray wolf was born into a proud pack.
From his earliest days, Waza showed a rare balance of spirit and discipline. While others rushed headlong into challenges, he watched, learned and prepared.
The elders of the pack soon noticed his focus. He did not rely on raw force alone. He studied movement, timing and intention. When he ran, his steps were precise. When he played, he showed control. When danger came, he stood firm, calm, courageous and steady.
They named him Waza because everything he did was guided by skill, not impulse.
As he grew, Waza became the pack’s quiet leader. He understood that strength carries responsibility. He protected the young, supported the weak and honored those who came before him.
His leadership was never loud, but it was respected. Others followed him because he lived the values that kept the pack strong: discipline, unity and perseverance.
One morning, as Waza watched the sunrise over the land he loved, he felt a calling beyond his pack. He sensed a greater purpose: to inspire others to pursue excellence, respect tradition and represent their country with pride.
That calling led him to USA Karate.

More than a mascot, Waza is here to inspire athletes, engage families and strengthen connections throughout the USA Karate community. He will appear at competitions, events, youth programs and community outreach initiatives nationwide.
Whether stepping onto the tatami or supporting teammates from the sidelines, Waza reminds every athlete that true power comes from preparation, character and commitment.
