2023 USA National Karate Championships & Team Trials

We are pleased to announce that the 2023 USA National Karate Championships and Team Trials will be held from July 13-16, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia at the Greater Richmond Conference Center. You can find Information regarding the event along with the preferred hotels below.

The Richmond region is one of the most central destinations on the East Coast. It is within a day’s drive from over half of the U.S. population and was voted “One of the Top 50 cities worth exploring in 2022” by MSN. Richmond is a vibrant, thriving, and diverse mid-sized metropolitan destination with nationally renowned attributes in both nature and business. Richmond has world-class indoor and outdoor facilities along with an exciting array of historic, cultural, and outdoor attractions.

Please note that the following announcements do not affect any beginner, novice, intermediate, or advanced divisions.

• Starting with the 2024 USA National Championships all elite categories will require red and blue embroidered uniforms as per the WKF regulations. 2023 will serve as a transition year where red and blue embroidered uniforms in the elite categories will be optional. Non-elite categories will continue to use white uniforms only.
• New for Sunday afternoon finals! Coaches participating in all Sunday afternoon finals bouts (U14 and Senior elite categories) are encouraged to wear a suit, per WKF rules.

USA Karate is concerned for the safety of our athletes, officials, staff members, volunteers and spectators. N95 or KN95 Masks are recommended for all individuals regardless of vaccination status within the tournament and event space. Protocols may change if additional restrictions are put on by the convention center, hotels, federal, state, or local health departments.
